$100,000 Grant to Support DU Grand Challenges

The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations has announced a $100,000 grant to the Univerisity of Denver to support DU Grand Challenges.

Launched in October 2017, DU Grand Challenges brings together students, faculty, and community change-makers to address complex public challenges through deliberative dialogue and collective action. Under the theme Thriving Communities, DU Grand Challenges will address three inter-related issues: improving daily living, increasing economic opportunity and advancing deliberation and action for the public good in our communities.

The grant from Arthur Vining Davis Foundations will be used to develop new ways for students and faculty to use community-engaged scholarship and high-impact learning practices to work collaboratively with community partners on the grand challenge issues. DU Grand Challenges builds on current successes across campus to enhance students’ educational experience while preparing them for lives of purpose.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations for their support of this signature DU initiative,” said DU’s Chancellor Rebecca Chopp. “Grand Challenges represents our deep commitment to the public good and touches upon every facet of our strategic vision, DU IMPACT 2025.”
