Grand Challenges: A Community Table
Last October, DU announced the launch of the University’s Grand Challenges Initiative, a family of programs that bring together university and community change-makers to address the most difficult and far-reaching issues facing our society today. Guided by the theme, Thriving Communities, the first issue we will work to address together is improving daily living in our communities.
To aid in this effort, the University established the first A Community Table event on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
A Community Table will bring together small groups from across Denver and around the globe to share a meal – be it at a restaurant, coffee shop, school, home or other gathering places – and discuss aspirations and ideas for improving daily living in our communities.
Everyone is invited to be a part of the conversation—whether you choose to host or join a table. Groups can meet at any time and anywhere on April 11.
Your aspirations for improving daily living in our communities will inform what collective actions DU Grand Challenges will select and act upon over the coming years. Following the event participants will have the opportunity to submit an idea for improving daily living – ten of which will be selected for a $1000 grant to turn that idea into action.
