National Championship Celebration

On Tuesday, April 11, the University of Denver will celebrate once again being crowned the national champions of college hockey. The party gets started at 6 p.m. at Magness Arena; doors will open at 5:30.

Coach Jim Montgomery, winner of the Spencer Penrose Award for coach of the year; Captain Will Butcher, winner of the Hobey Baker Award for player of the year; Tanner Jaillet, winner of the Mike Richter Award for goalie of the year; and the rest of the Pioneers will bring the championship trophy home during a celebration that is open to students, faculty, staff and the Denver community. In addition to hearing from the national champions, Chancellor Rebecca Chopp and Vice Chancellor for Athletics Peg Bradley-Doppes will be part of the festivities.

Tuesday night’s program will include a video reliving the run to a national championship, an autograph session with the student-athletes and coaches, as well as a commemorative championship team picture.
