Project team wins award for construction of new Engineering and Computer Science Building

Congratulations to the project team for the construction of the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science for their Award of Merit from the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Regional Best Projects Awards competition. The ENR awards are given to honor the best construction projects and companies that design and build in the United States and Puerto Rico. Projects compete in 20 categories from airports to sports and entertainment. Industry experts judge the projects on five criteria including, safety, innovation and teamwork.

The DU building was entered into the Higher Ed/Research category – the competition’s most competitive category with more than a dozen entries and only two awards given per category.

University Architect, Mark Rodgers says, “The technical challenges of the project ranged from the careful threading of today’s web of electrical and data conduits through the enduring brick structure that DU is well known for to the complex coordination of energy efficient heating and cooling systems design to be flexible in handling today’s and tomorrow’s intensive research needs.”
