Solo Exhibition Features Work by Art Professor Sarah Gjertson

The historic Park County Courthouse in Fairplay, Colorado, will feature works by Sarah Gjertson, associate professor of studio art, in an exhibition that runs Sept. 8-Nov. 11. “Human Imprint: An Exhibition Featuring the Women and Structures of Park County” was inspired by Gjertson’s trips to historic mining sites and research at the Park County local history archives. The work in the exhibition explores the strong pull of sentimentality and nostalgia experienced at historic mining sites, the residue of human activity that remains and the presence and contributions of women at a highly mythologized time in the American West.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m., with an artist talk scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 at noon. The historic Park County Courthouse is located at 418 Main St., Fairplay, Colorado.
