Use car2go on DU's Campus
As Denver continues to grow, it can be difficult at times to get around town and to find parking, especially on campus. The University is excited to announce that car2go is now providing dedicated parking spaces on DU’s campus. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to download the car2go app and register using the promo code DU2018 which will waive registration fees and provide $5 in drive time credit. The offer expires June 7, 2018.
car2go will provide students, staff and faculty access to an affordable mobility option via an on-demand carsharing network of eco-friendly Mercedes-Benz CLA or GLA vehicles. All you need is a valid driver’s license and to be at least 18 years of age to register. Students with international driver’s licenses are also allowed to rent one of the vehicles.
car2go is the largest and fastest-growing carsharing program in the world with more than three million registered members and a fleet of nearly 14,000 vehicles in 26 locations in North America, Europe and Asia. In fact, Fast Company named car2go one of the most innovated transportation companies of 2018.
How can faculty, staff and students utilize car2go on campus?
DU faculty, staff and students can utilize car2go in many ways, including:
- Heading downtown or to Cherry Creek to shop or eat
- Driving to and from sporting events
- To get to/from jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities
- To get from one side of campus to the other quickly and affordably
- Driving up to the mountains or to Boulder to hike/ski
How do I register and use?
Just download the car2go app to your mobile phone and once you’ve registered with the promo code, you’ll be able to view available vehicles on and around campus. Unlike traditional carsharing programs, you can make one-way trips within the designated car2go Home Area. This means that you can use the vehicle for as long as you’d like, without committing to a specific return time or location. car2go has by-the-minute pricing which includes the costs for fuel, insurance, parking and maintenance. See the map below to find where the dedicated parking spaces will be located on campus.
